Geoffrey - This has been no more of a "flame war" than discussions on which
headers, plugs, plug wires, distributor cap, computer, tires, etc., are
"better." The folks discussing the subject have been civil and have
brought up some good points. For example, there is no doubt that auto
tranny gives more consistency in bracket racing, and is much more
convenient in city driving. However, I felt that I should correct some
misconceptions, while addressing some of the (not commonly thought of)
advantages to stick, other than that it's simply cheaper.

Probably because their marketing folks told them that they wouldn't sell in
sufficient numbers.

No one has said or implied that anyone else is "horrible" for believing
that one is better than the other. In fact, neither is "better" than the
other for all uses. It all boils down to personal opinion.

Just to have some fun! Haven't you ever "bench raced?"

Like . . . (P.S. - I'm sure that no one hates you or has a serious problem
with your view . . . or letter.)
