Wheel Hop and clutch questions...

I've noticed that I occasionally get wheel hop which can be pretty severe
(depending on road conditions and how hard I push it) on my '98 4x4 CC (318 of
couse)...It actually seems to occur only if I get pretty high in the rev band
in 1st, and it'll hop all through 2nd if I run it out. It goes away
immediately if I short shift 1st, or if I let off the gas a little. It
doesn't always happen, it seems to depend a lot on the road I'm driving on. I
have the Wranglers on the wheels. I am aware that I could bolt on some
traction bars to fix the problem, but I was curious as to how those of you who
drive at drag strips handle this (if you have the problem at all)? I probably
shouldn't complain, after all my Dak isn't a sports car, but it WANTS to be :)
Also, I was wondering how long I can expect my clutch to last (for those of
you with standards who DRIVE them) I have a tendancy to burn through clutches
(I've gotten about 20k out of the last few on my previous cars)....I dunno it
could have something to do with my tendancy to leave smoking black trails
wherever I go, but I was hoping that the truck clutches would be built a
little tougher than those made for passenger cars.
Just curious...
