I think the product is called "Twin-Tire". One of the big advantages was
to provide mobility in the case of a puncture, as only one of the two
"tires" would go flat. There was a write-up in one of the car mags about
a year or two ago saying that they worked ok, but performed about the
same as a budget radial as far as performance goes. They were also only
available in a limited selection of sizes, and were expensive as you had
to buy the rims as well. If I remember the other knock against them was
that the tires couldn't be changed by "Joe's garage" without some
special tools...
