} Mini-Trucking magazine listed the 6-on-4.5" wheels for the Dakota as
} needing a 4-3/4" backspace for a 7" rim, and a 5-1/4" backspace for a 8"
} rim.
}
} Is that right?
} Does the 6" rim have 4-1/4" backspacing then (to keep the same offset)?

The stock 6" rim has 5" backspace. The stock 7" and 8" rims on the '97s
have 5.5" of backspacing, but I hear these can hit the upper control arm
on pre-'97s.

They say the 7" rims "need" 4-3/4" backspacing?? Perhaps they are
assuming some very wide tire width, otherwise they are just picking that
number because they found a wheel in that size and it didn't fall off
their truck when they drove it around the block (I have a pretty low
opinion of these magazines).
