Under this thinking, you'd only change the oil when the last drop boils
out of the crankcase.

A knowledgeable dealer mechanic will know the speed sensor is going to
fail at the 80-100K mark, and to avoid an unhappy customer who just had
his truck in the shop and now has a truck that dies off idle, he'll
recommend replacing the part.
