This isn't much help but my 97 4X4,sure-grip Dak had the exact same brake
problem when I picked it up. Really hard shudder when applying the brakes
at any speed. I took it in after a couple hundred miles and my dealer,
Cutter Dodge in Santa Barbara, was able to fix it immediately. I asked what
the problem was and they said it was out-of-round rear drums but I was
highly skeptical. I've had out-of-round drums and warped rotors on other
trucks before and this seemed worse to me. Anyhow I'd say theres a problem,
maybe in design or manufacture, but apparently it is fixable. Can you try
another dealer?
