What do you think insurance companies do with the money you pay them as
premiums, stick it in the filing cabinet till you file a claim. Of course
they don't. They invest it and make big profits from the dividends. If you
file a claim that is greater than the premiums you have paid in, they make
up the difference from this profit. Then they either drop your coverage or
raise your rates taking the attitude, "How dare you actually use the
service you have been paying for!"
