        Sounds like the fuel pump is hung up. Dakotas use a 2 piece pump
design. As the fuel level lowers the pump also lowers. The problem is
that the 2 phillips head screws that allow the pump to lower sometimes
wear a deep enough ridge in the guides causing the pump not to fully lower
itself into the fuel. Hope this helps. May be time to replace the pump.
