On this subject of detonation and vacume loss, I rememember an artical in Mopar Muscle about leaky lifter valley gaskets. They said you can tell by an oily intake manifold (sorry I forgot how to spell the word for this plenum?). Well , anyway I've been wanting to replace this gasket on mine for a long time and maybe put in the heat deflector on the bottom of the cover at the same time. I'm sure this leaky gasket can blow the vacume and also heat things up a bit to ad to the pre-ignition pinging. I've just been running high octane gas. Any comments on how to do this repair ect.
