} rims. Could the increased vibration I am feeling be due to the wheels?
} How much better are alloy rims with regards to wheel balancing? Is it
} more likely, as some have mentioned already, how the wheel is balanced
} that may determine amount of felt vibration?
Dodge has had some problems with their steel rims causing vibration
problems around the '93-'95 timeframe. I notice they dropped the fancy
steel wheels after that. Now it is aluminum wheels or the steel
cheapies. Aluminum wheels are turned, so they are *very* round.
How the wheel is balanced is important too. Static balancing is
obsolete. With tires lasting 10s of thousands of miles it is worth
getting them spin balanced, and on many cars it is the only way to get
rid of vibration. Better tires places also measure and trim a tire to
make sure it is not out of round (no hops up and down).
The Michlin LT tires balance up fine and are smooth, so I don't think
having LT tires is the problem.
