Those of you who live in NY have probably heard about the new emissions
standards which have been imposed. I don't know a whole lot about them
except that they are more stringent than before. Of course, many states
like California have had to deal with this garbage all along.
I had to take my truck in today for its annual inspection. I know that
my Mr. Gasket air can is not approved; I'm not sure about the K&N filter.
(I wonder if it is possible to get an EO number for the filter?)
Anyway, I sure wasn't going to bring up the subject, but in talking
to the guy at the service station, (who was complaining about all the
paperwork changes he had to make), come to find out, 1996 vehicles are
exhempt from the new emissions law! Apparently, (for whatever reason) 1996
vehicles don't pass California emissions, so they've all been exhempted!
Pile on the exhaust, headers, supercharger, nitrous, arrh arrh arrh!!
;-)
So, I guess we '96ers finally get a break. Sure, we've had to wait 2
years for the SBEC and we've got OBD-II, but we're the last year of the
"light" trucks and apparently we can do whatever we want, emissions-wise.
:-) (I could be wrong, don't quote me on that.) ;-)
