Thanks, Dave. NOW I know why my 97 has no under hood sound pad. Another mystery solved!

I suspect that the passenger handle option was added part way thru the
'97 model year, which is why some '97's have it and others don't. Kind
of like the under hood sound pad (which my '97 CC Sport+ doesn't have,
but others do).
