I have a '96 4x2 Club Cab SLT. I use that exact same tire. Firestone
Firehawk SS10 235/70 15's. I'm on my 2nd set now. I get absolutely no
rubbing.
Also, during hard cornering, your tires aren't going to be at full
lock anyway; hard cornering implies that you've got some speed built up.
The only chance I see for rubbing is slow speed turning. I just went
outside and turned my wheels to full lock, and the top-front portion of
the tire was touching the plastic pieces on the inside of the wheel well,
but there wasn't really any pressure there; I could easily run my fingers
between them.
The only time I've ever had any rubbing was with the stock Invictas, and
that was only because a piece inside the wheel well was out of place and
rubbing against the tires. IMHO, the SS10's are *much* better than the
stock Invictas. You might want to think twice before getting rid of them.
According to my calculations,
235 * .70 = 164.50mm (sidewall height, SS10s)
215 * .75 = 161.25mm (sidewall height, Invictas)
164.50mm - 161.25mm = 3.25mm (difference in height for one sidewall)
3.25mm * 2 = 6.5mm (difference in height for the whole tire)
The SS10s will make your wheels are 6.5mm (1/4") taller than the
invictas.
