Wind noise: Door seals

Hi,

I'm new to the DML and noticed your letter on wind noise.
I have a '97 CC and experienced the same problem (actual whistling
at >35 mpH). After re-aligning the doors and replacing the seals,
the dealer tech and I actually traced the noise (that appeared to
come from the top of the door seal or A pillar as you described)
to the 6X9 mirrors. If you have them, fold them and then drive and
I'll be the noise dissipates.

There's a sound-proofing gasket behind the mirror in between the door
panel just where the mirrors mount. Remove the door panel
(3 screws on the bottom of the door and 2 torx srews by the door
latch and power window switches- be careful if you have the
Infinity tweeters in the door) and you'll instantly see it.
Either re-align the gasket or seal it with duck tape. That solved
my wind noise problem instantly abd it's been quiet ever since.

Strange solution but it worked. HOpe it helps.
