My 98 now has a VIN. All the equipment codes also agree with what was
actually ordered. So far, so good.
Returning to the Auto Trans Designation thread for a moment, the 98' factory
service manual lists 3 possible trannys:
42RE
44RE
46RE
The manual assumes you already have your vehicle and know what one you have
based on the door panel codes. Is there a distinct transmission for the 3.9
/ 5.2 / 5.9 engines?
On yet another subject, someone asked whether the tail gate protector is
available separately. The 98' accessories catalog lists it as Part#:
82203899 @ $34.00.
