Spank! (part II)

On Thursday of last week... SOS.. Same Old Shtuff.

Funny thing this time it was not 1, but 2 OTHER Dakotas involved.
I was running about 70 in the same part of the fwy (fast lane, going with
about everyone else). When up ahead I notice the letters 'D A K O T A"
on the truck 4-5 car lengths (okay truck lengths) ahead of me. Same year
and color as mine, except for the grey on the bottom portion of the doors
and bed. After a minute I noticed that he was tailgating someone in front
of
him. After I peered side to side I realized that he was up on a Blue Dakota
Sport (CC). Seems the Sport and guy in the SLT were having some 'fun'
on their way to work, when the Blue sport got caught up behind some
people going under the recommended speed in the fast lane. I moved over
and got beside the SLT, then got over again and moved past him and the
Sport. Working my way towards the #3 and #4 lanes as I normally do 3-4
miles from my exit, the SLT was right on my butt, with the Sport on his
butt!
after a small opening the SLT shot to my left #3 lane and the Sport shot to
the
#2 lane along side the SLT. Going 3 wide..... Would have been a great
picture, but my dad's got my digital camera!! :( So finally after I heard
his
muffled exhaust drone get louder I dropped to 4th, and mercilessly walked
away from both of them and hit 5th after I was about 9 truck lengths
ahead...
Then hit my off ramp... I thought it was all through..so long, that was
fun,
take it easy.. WRONG. The guy in the SLT must work right near me as
he took the same off ramp, same left turn, and was sitting in the exact
spot the poor old chump in the Volvo was 2 days before. I looked over
at him and he was staring cold at the light. Arms pumped up holding the
wheel waiting to drop the hammer. I was laughing my butt off, drinking my
coffee, trying not to have it come out my nose. When the light turned green
he
smoked his tires, I did a quick 1-2 shift,---4000 shift -3rd---4500 shift
4th...and
was 3 lengths ahead of him. At the next red light (where I turn right) he
came up
on my left, did the thumbs up and was pretty HAPPY?!?! Guess he had some
fun to start his day.

Those are about the only 2 that I have experience in the last 2 months.
With
gas prices down to around $1.319 a gallon for premium, I might go to
Carlsbad
Raceway and see how she does 13 months after the headers. With the way
work is, I'll more than likely going to be getting a different truck. For
work that
is. I want to 'retire' my Dakota to more sedate things like, road trips,
towing jet
boats to the river, etc. My future truck will be a 'D50' or a Mitsubishi
Mighty Max.
Something good on gas, and that I can beat up and not feel too bad about. A
D50
would be cool.. 2 Dodges!! :)
