Safety Problem with Seat Belt on '98

I have a '98 CC w/ bucket seats, the seat belt on my the driver's
side will lock when I pull abruptly on the belt. I believe this
is the inertia reel doing its job. The passenger's side will NOT
lock no matter how hard I pull. I think this is a safety defect
and I have it at the dealer right now.

Could others please go out to their 97-98 Dakotas and see if the
seat belts act the same. Just give a firm tug on the sholder
belt. It should go 2-3 inches and lock up. Please post the list
and let us know what you find out.

I plan on reporting this to the NHTSA using their on line form as I
think it is a major safety issue. I will not ride a passenger in
the front until it is fixed.

I also have the dealer looking into the light clunk in the steering
and the loud heater problem. I will report what they find on all
three issues.

Drive Safe,
