Just to muddy the water:).... I had splash guards installed on my '98
4X4 a couple of weeks ago. I was told two things by the dealer: 1.)
The parts are different for a 4X4 and 4X2, 2.) The molded type
wouldn't fit because I have the fender flairs.

     What I had installed was:

Stock Number: 82203705 "Guard Kit-Splash Flat - F" You need two sets
and the same part fits both front and rear.

What I liked about them is they only cost $12.90 a pair, you use the
same holes that were drilled for the fender flairs to mount them, they
look sharp with the rams head logo on them, and they look like they
will hold up pretty well when I go 4 Wheel'n... Even if they don't
hold up under extreme conditions, I won't mind replacing them once in
     a while at that price.

     Just FYI.

I have wheel flares on my dakota w/ moulded mudflaps. The dealer said
it would be ok to install them and he was right. They are nice but not
suggested if you climb rocks and try to keep up with the CJ's because
     they dont flex very well.
When installing them I had to take off the rear tires to gain
clearance to get my drill in because they requre you to drill holes to
     mount the flaps.
