I used to use my emergency brake all the time; whenever I parked, I'd
put on the emergency brake. However, it has recently started sticking.
The first time it happened was after I had a new set of tires put on. They
un-stuck it for me, and I have been very careful about using it since.
(Only using it when absolutely nescessary and pressing it in only as far
as nescessary.)
I just had the engine steam cleaned, and they used the brake since they
had the engine running and it was on a slight incline. Unfortunately, it
is stuck again. I know this because the truck seems slower, there is a
burning smell coming from the left rear wheel, and the drum is very HOT!
(Same as the last time it stuck.)
Has anyone else experienced this? Any ideas as to what might be making
it stick? If I pull the wheel off, is there anything I can do to un-stick
it? (Would I have to take the drum off?) Since it is already stuck, I have
tried pushing the brake on and releasing it several times, but it is still
stuck.
Thanks very much in advance for any help you can give me!
