I have a 94 4x4 ext cab with the 5.2l and had the same clunk. There
is a recall on this, and my problem was with the overdrive unit. I
had to have it repaired twice. The first time it wasn't fixed, the
second time it was. mechanic told me they had to put shins somewhere.
Whatever he did, he fixed it. Total time without my truck (sob) was
about two weeks though. Make sure you get a free loaner.
