Went to Houston Raceway Park night to do a little racing and found a new R/T
wanting to try an "old" as he called it Dakota out. After looking at my engine
he made the remark that because I had a custom induction system and a MPSBEC
in my truck it probably wouldn't be a fair race. Well, I just got out the
1/4in drive ratchet set, removed the MPSBEC and installed the stock unit(kept
under seat in case of whatever). I also removed the air filter and air cleaner
lid to render the Ram Air box ineffective. Only mods to the R/T were a K&N
element. Basic stats below:

1998 Dodge Dakota R/T 5.9L(RC)
(Pennzoil lane)
R/T: .678
60': 2.271
330': 6.408
1/8: 9.832
MPH: 71.75
1000: 12.813
1/4: 15.383
MPH: 86.62

1995 Dodge Dakota SLT 5.2L(RC)
(Winston lane)
R/T: .551
60': 2.275
330': 6.387
1/8: 9.803
MPH: 71.89
1000: 12.778
1/4: 15.345
MPH: 86.78

The weather was hot and humid. Typical for a Houston night. I had made several
passes before removing the MPSBEC and Ram Air. These passes were a full
6-7/10ths faster. I took on several 5.2L 97-98 Dakotas before the R/T and all
they saw were taillights of my "old" 95.

With the right mods(excluding superchargers and the bottle) the R/T's should
be able to turn high 13's for under a grand.

Good hunting,

Gene
