Re: R/T at the Drag Strip

Those are some pretty good numbers Mike, pretty close to what Motor Trend got form their CC R/T.
They ran 15.4@89 in the 1/4 mi. Not bad for a truck that can also tow 6800lbs.

I hope I can get high 14's or low 15's from my RC R/T. I think it only weighs about 3800lbs. I also made a ram air kit for it using a 4" air hose. I made a scoop from a 4" x 6" sheet metal reducer and mounted it just next to the radiator on the passenger side of the engine compartment. It was a tight fit (I had to shorten the reducer and re-shape it) but now it is right behind the horizontal openings in the grill when the hood is shut. I then removed the factory air horn from the air filter box and connected the box directly to the scoop via the 4" air hose. I am still using the paper air filter, but I plan on getting a K&N soon. This simple ram air system only costs $10 to build and all you have to do is remove the rubber sheet that is next to the radiator so it will fit.
The truck really has more pep after I installed this.

Well I final got my R/T to the drag strip. It's
been raining here forever. Did 6 passes won 3
lost 3. Traction is definitely a problem although
not as bad as I thought it would be. As soon as
these tires wear out I'll have to get some wider
ones. Truck pulls pretty good until it hits about
70 MPH in third gear that's where some more Hp
would really be nice! Highlight of my night was
beating a mustang! Well here are the results
from the best run out of 6. The conditions were
very humid and about 60 degrees it had just
stopped raining.

ET 1/4 Mile 15.46
Speed 1/4 Mile 87.99
Reaction Time: Embarrassing
60 ft. 2.215
330 ft. 6.3797
1/8 Mile 9.866
100 ft. 12.89

Forgot to mention my R/T is a Club Cab 4,280 Lbs.
