Ignition noise on AM radio

I noticed that when I was driving around without a hood, I
could hear a ticking on AM radio stations. It is directly
proportional to the RPM of the engine, so I'm guessing it is
ignition noise. There's none when the hood is on though.

I recently got a fiberglass hood, and I'm getting that
ignition noise; apparently the fiberglass isn't as good
at blocking it as the metal hood. Would new wires
(such as MSD SuperConductor 8.5mm) help to eliminate this?
