That "clunk" you hear is probably your axle snapping back. When you accelerate
forward, the axle tends to rotate backwards on the leaf springs, the term for
it escapes me. That's what traction bars are for, to limit that leaf flex and
provide you with more traction.
   I doubt that clunk is harmful, but at least now you know what it is!!
