Well, severing the chord shouldn't affect the adjustment, because it simply
turns the adjusting screw that would otherwise be inaccessible. If you need
to adjust them, you'll either have to repair the adjusters (with dealer parts
- I would imagine $$$) or follow the cables down to where they attach to the
screws, and try to get at them to turn them. This would be pretty hard on the
battery side, but it may be doable. Someone else on the list has had this
problem, and may chime in with some advice. Mine are intact (knock on wood),
but I've never tried them. They may be frozen or otherwise, but for now I'll
leave them alone.
