racing pigeons ?

Yes, unfortunately not many people know about them---we call them racing
pigeons instead of homing pigeons as some people only show them and we
want to distinguish them as performance birds. Most people just see the
pigeons flying around the city. These are not even close to the same
thing as our birds though related. It's like comparing a thoroughbred
race horse and a wild mustang roaming BLM land.

It's an absolutely great hobby. No matter what's going on at work or in
the rest of the world, i.e., if my DAK is giving me grief, (<- frivolous
insertion for DAK content <g>) I can either go in one of my lofts and
sit for hours or watch one of my teams flying and everything else fades
away into the background.

It would be an excellent hobby also for youngsters to keep them out of
trouble and to teach not only responsibility but many principles of
science.

Unfortunately, some towns and neighborhoods have passed ordinances to
keep people from raising them in their yards. So much for freedoms and
the pursuit of happiness...

The first thing I looked at in purchasing my house was deed
restrictions. Everything else was secondary. <g>

Stepping off the soapbox.... <g>
