Jack,
Saturday night I put in my MP comp. and ran it (stomped) around and noticed
alot of pinging even on Sunoco 94 octane. I know the computer probably wasnt
working to par, but sunday, I decided to put in a 160 stat. If you have air,
then this thing is a fucking pain in the ass to get at. My upper hose would
not come loose from the housing so I had to work around it. Was gonna cut it
and get a new hose, but no one, including my store had this hose. Not even
the dealer. I have one on special order now. Back to the stat. Two days
later with the same ungodly heat (live in MD near the Chesapeke Bay), It seems
like a different truck. With the stock 195 my temp gauge set at 12:00. Now it
sets on that line right above "c". Ive heard that running the 160 vs. the 180
will give better performance, but MPG will suffer (I have yet to confirm).
Also heard that I might want to run spark plugs a heat range hotter because a
cooler engine results in dirtier combustion.?. Dont know how much truth there
is to this, but my engine seems to like the 160. Lets see what the others
know.
 (sorry about the book^)
