What tailgate decal? My R/T does not have one. Guess I missed out.......

I think the magazines get a pre-production version for testing, which
may not have the same options or equipment as a production model. For
example, look at the February 1998 Sport Truck photos. They look nothing
like the production version (different wheels, different decals, no rear
bumper). For another example, look at the R/T brochure. The decals on the
tailgate are
different. And if you look at Road & Track's Truck & Van '98 Buyer's
Guide, you'll see a fourth variation of the tailgate decals.

The magazines would probably have had to have those trucks months ago in
order to get them into "current" issues, I believe. I wouldn't be
surprised if some of them were actually '97s that were modified.
