I have installed a stage 1 JET Chip on my 98 5.2. Here are the results:
Previous Average:
This is the average of my last time out, exculding any abnormal problem runs
(missed shifts, bad traction, etc.)
60 330 1/8 MPH 1000 1/4 MPH HP TEMP
HMDTY
2.185 6.390 9.978 70.950 12.985 15.416 89.605 222 88 48
With Jet Chip:
60 330 1/8 MPH 1000 1/4 MPH HP TEMP
HMDTY
2.480 6.707 10.167 70.980 13.143 15.654 89.880 223 93 44
2.415 6.554 10.005 71.070 12.987 15.504 89.690 222 89 49
2.593 6.730 10.183 71.340 13.165 15.683 89.600 221 88 51
2.557 6.755 10.225 70.870 13.214 15.738 89.450 220 87 52
2.541 6.749 10.225 70.690 13.221 15.751 89.090 217 84 61
The last pass was made with the JET Chip removed for direct comparrison.
As you can see, the traction was very limited this night (wasn't just me). So
anyway, these are the corrected ETs if using average 60 foot from last time:
60 330 1/8 MPH 1000 1/4 MPH
2.185 6.412 9.872 70.980 12.848 15.359 89.880
2.185 6.324 9.775 71.070 12.757 15.274 89.690
2.185 6.322 9.775 71.340 12.757 15.275 89.600
2.185 6.383 9.853 70.870 12.842 15.366 89.450
2.185 6.393 9.869 70.690 12.865 15.395 89.090
NOTES - My conculsion so far is that the stage 1 chip might give you a tenth,
the corrected ET's are not proven. The HP numbers say peak HP is at most a 6
HP increase and at least a 2 HP loss. However, when traction goes away MPH
usually increases a little. Taking that into consideration, there is almost
no HP increase. This Chip does provide better part throttle response which
might help you automatic guys, but under full throttle there is too little
difference to tell. The chip has been installed for two weeks. There has
been no marked chage in fuel consumption.
