I keep seein' people here talk about finding leaks by adding dye to the
freon....talk about 70's technology...or lack thereof. Even small
independent garages these days use electronic "freon sniffers". Gadget has
a long thin probe with a tiny intake on it. You just move it around the
lines and fittings and whenever it sniffs some freon it lets out a buzz.
The tone of the buzz changes with the amount of freon present.
You wanna check for leaks in your Dak, find a garage with a sniffer. If
you're nice, they'll probably let you use it for 10 or 15 minutes for
free....otherwise offer 'em $10 bucks to check out your system.
And join the 90's. :-)
