Chris,
I also have the MOPAR cover on my 98 Kota. I also have some issues.
After about a week or so, I noticed that one side of the cover was
really close to the bed rail. When I opened up the cover, there was
some scratches on the paint. I went back to the dealer and told them
about the problem. They adjusted the cover. Now I hear a squeaking
noise every time I hit a little bump. I think that they will be getting
this cover back to. Thank you very much for the info. I thought that
it was just my luck. By the way, the dealer ship charged me $700 for
the cover, and $64 to install it.

I bought a Mopar hard tounneau cover for my '98 a couple weeks after I
bought the truck. I had the dealer install it so that I would get the
3/36 warrenty on the lid. Including installation, I ended up paying a
little over a $1000. I liked the lid a lot but the entire unit kept
moving around on the bed rails and damaging the tailgate and bed rails.
I took it back to the dealer a total of five times over the next month
for them to "readjust" it. The sixth time, I demanded my money back for
the lid and that they fix the damage that it had done to my truck.
After a lot of arguing, they finally agreed to fix the damage. The lid
ended up causing close to $2000 worth of damage to the truck. I
wouldn't go with a Mopar lid. They look nice, but they aren't designed
very practically in my opinion.
My neighbor has a Swiss lid on his Ranger. He likes it, and I think it
looks nice. He only paid $650 for it, installed. I don't know if Swiss
makes a lid for a Dak, but you might want to check.

My Dak has a SnugTop shell on it (when you say lid, I'm assuming you
mean
Tonneau Cover) and it was $1100 from Mother Truckers. It's got all the
goodies built into it. The quality is very high and I haven't had any
problems with it. My truck has the Mopar under rail bedliner on it so
they
had only minimal trimming of the liner to get the shell to accurately
meet the
bed. No leaks either. I've had it in a couple of El Nino heavy
rainstorms as
well so I'm quite pleased with it's preformance. I don't know if all of
this
translates over to their Tonneau Covers but it should. Good luck
shopping...

I have been wanting a lid for my 98 Dakota Sport for some time now. =
Since recently subscribing to the list I noticed that many people have =
Snug Top lids. I called the local dealer here and he priced it at $750.
=
I thought that was awfully high, and was just wanting the opinion of =
some fellow truck owners. All I want is a lid. Nothing fancy.
