I use the 20hp/1psi guideline. Ignition timing is very important. I've
gained 15 rear-wheel hp from taking out 1 deg of retard on a 6lb boosted
engine. I think given time to sort out the combo he'll see more gains.
Exhaust could be the problem. I don't know how bad the exhaust ports are
on Magnum heads. One thing is for sure, his R/T is crying for headers
and Y-pipe.

alan,
Now that Ive read the Shelby Durango hype (WHY an SUV...
Jeeze) with
the 360 hp claims Im wondering why the Vortech kit isnt
even in the 300
HP range... Could something be wrong? (other than
advertising "poetic"
license) Hmmmm Ive heard that the Vortech should add at
least 100 hp in
a 6lb config. with 220 hp to the rear wheels (from a
previous post on
bad JET II) on a basically stock normally aspirated R/T
then I would
expect at least 320 HP from a vorteched R/T... seems
there is a mising
40-50 HP around somewhere.

According to my calculations, you're making 278 HP
(14.95ET, 4300lb).
What's your trap speed before the blower? You have a
list of mods you've
made?
I'm serious considering install my blower on the dak. I
have yet to
price the 'base kit' that has all the accessory except
the blower. I'm
just worried about voiding my extended warranty. Where
did you install
the oil return line? I don't want to take it in for
warranty work with a
hole in the oil pan. Is the blower housing high enough
where you can tap
the valve cover for the return?
One last question: is the volute (outlet of the blower)
straight or does
it make a 90deg right turn? The S-trim I have for my
"Rustang" has a 90
deg bend. Sorry for all the questions.

I had my 98 R/T CC out at US Route 66
Dragway in Joliet
IL tonight. What a
good night to race. The temps were in
the 60's with
very little humidity.
BTW, I installed the Vortech on my R/T
the last week and
have been
wondering how this truck will run. I
ran the truck four
times. The track
was really crowded tonight. Here's my
best run of the
night.
The car I was up against was an early
90's Rustang 5.0,
5 speed, cam just
installed, and slicks.

because he was sleeping)

I won by .192 seconds. It was a great
race.
I manually shifted the RT at 5300 rpm.
I hit the rev
limiter on this run
between the 1st and 2nd shift. I may
have even run a
litle quicker.
Overall I am pretty happy about the run.
I think once I
get the
supercharger dialed in it will go
faster. I don't go to
the track much but
I might start soon. I also weigheds the
truck with me
in it and it weighed
exacly 4300 pounds. Subtract my 230 and
the truck
weighs in at 4070 with a
quarter tank of gas.
