Another Automatic shift question/Recomendation

So I went out to see if some of the local shops could install a shift kit.
(don't have a place where I can do it, plus deal with the oil mess etc)Based
on what I have heard on the list I think you folks like the Transgo shift
kits the best? Some shops said they didn't want anything to do with shift
kits. Other shops wanted $400.00 to do the job. Mainly because you have to
fiddle to make things work well with our Automatics?, or because it's
electronically controlled by the computer it will mess things up? Is any of
this true?
I want to get firm shifts when you need it, but don't want to get my neck
jerked off when just driving easy, plus I always like the ability to drop it
into low at any speed it needed.
So far the best deal is $250.00 Does Transgo make many versions depending on
what you want or need? Which one would be best in the 94 V8 automatic ?
