Saturday I shifted into 2 to slow down coming off a short
ramp.
The truck (92ccV8auto) barked the tires and apparently trashed
overdrive....
I've used this method only about 10,000 times before without a
problem...but now if you allow the truck to try and shift into
overdrive, it dogs down the engine and slows the vehicle.
Locking OD out the truck runs fine but I now have to carry 4000
rpm to run 85 instead of 3000rpm.
As a side note: while climbing steep hills , in the past,when it
would down shift you would feel the converter unlock and then
it would shift down a gear. On Saturday however, several times
it acted like the convertor unlocked but it did not shift down.
Any insite would be appreciated.
