Jason, I've got a single 3"in/out Flowmaster on my 98 5.2L
Dakota. Its the 2 chamber model. I experienced an increase
in torque & horsepower with this system over the stock setup.

I think it was Truckin magazine who had an exclusive story
(mid 97) about Mopar engineers working on a 318 2WD RC Dakota.
They suggested the 3" single muffler setup for max torque and
HP along w/the Mopar TRI-Y headers, computer and maybe a cam
for an extra 50 HP.

Sense they did the homework, I chose to go their route. They
used a Mopar high perf. muffler (made by Gibson?) and 3"
tubing. I think I can find the magazine if you need the info.

To answer your original question, I thing it has been stated
that if you use a dual 3" system it will lose torque.
