Spark Plug Gap Question

Just curious, and sorry in advance if this was already asked. I check my
spark plugs every 6 months or so just to see if the gap size is still ok
and to see how they look. I was just wondering what happens when a vehicle
is gapped wrong. My Dak(V6) calls for .035 gap, what would happen if the gap
was at .040, .044, .054, etc???? I plan on sticking with the .035, just
curious about different gap sizes. Does the gap play an important role in
how my Dak runs? Thanks alot for any and all replies to help me understand
plug gapping alittle more......
Kyle
