My setup is almost identicle... How may miles do you have on it? I'm at
about 3k
now on my 98 4x4, 318, 160stat, K&N Open Air, Two inch lift on front, When
it was just a baby I got 13.5 driving back home from Houston at 75/80mph
with A/C.
My method is simple... At about 1500K I put a huge load on it with trailer and
tow it on the HWY and Tall Bridges(I put my foot in it on the bridges) I
have yet
to complete this task fully... The last load I had was not that big, but
put a lil
work on it when I took it off road(had to instal my deer stands)
Now I get 17.5-18mpg at 70-80mph and also have better lowend... My next mod
will probubly be computer or headers/dual back exhaust with new cats...
This technique kicked but on my dad's Cheby 1500... He rarely drives it.
At 10K
he was only getting 12mpg... I hooked it to a 5K lb. load and towed it from
LA to MN... Got about 9mpg on the way up and loaded it with about 3k lbs.
for the trip back.... Got about 11mpg back... He now drives it around
town and gets almost 18 and 22-23 on the hwy...
Basicly.. to get to the point... After initial break in... Load it up and
beat the crap out of it with hwy and hard towing conditions for a few
hundred miles... You will thank me for it....
This has worked for everyone I have shared it with...
Later.
