My 98 4x4 has the 46RE code for the tranny. I am getting funny shifts
out of it at times and have more or less pinpointed them. They occur
when you start off 2/3 to full throttle, and after it shifts to 2nd, but
before it shifts into 3rd, you start easing up on the throttle. It then
either takes about 3 seconds to shift into 3rd, or it acts like it
shifts into 3rd, then back to 2nd then into 3rd for good. The dealer
looked at it and says that it's internal. I think that's crap. Part
throttle shifting is very firm and crisp, which leads me to believe that
there is not an internal pressure leak. I think it is either the
kickdown cable adjustment or the computer if it controls the shift
points. Does anyone know how to adjust the shift points? At full
throttle the 1-2 shift is right at the redline, but moderate
acceleration the 1-2 shift is at 2400-2700...a little to low it feels
like. Does the JET computer make any changes to the shift points? Do
any of the aftermarket shift kits mention adjusting the shift points in
this manner?
The main reason I think the dealer is full of shit is that they said
that my oil leak was coming out of the back of the intake. Said they
pulled the intake and replaced the gaskets and end seals. I can find no
evidence of the intake being removed, and this morning I crawled under
and found oil still dripping from the torque convertor inspection
cover. So I guess while changing the oil today, I will attempt to find
the source of the leak.

Thanks,
