Been doing a little thinking on how to develop serious power and keep the EPA
hounds happy. How's this sound:
Convert a V-8 Dak to a Hydrogen burner, add twin turbos, all the engine
mods, an intercooler, and a true dual exhaust. I'm figuring this should put a
gas burning Dak at about 380-420hp with no problems. Figure on Hydrogen
burning at 75% efficiency of gas and you'd end up with a 285-315 hp Dak. The
best part of this would be that Uncle Sam would pay you back most of the
conversion money (under their conversion assistance program) and you might be
able to drum up some support from Chrysler and other companies just for the
test and useage data. It also means you are immune to smog laws and
regulations. Hydrogen right now runs slightly more than premium unleaded so
that wouldn't be too expensive. I suppose the downside here is that you can't
just pull up to the local gas station for fuel...
