While the truck was not garaged every night, it was waxed ALL of the time.
By most peoples opinions, it was babied. That is probably why the paint has
lasted longer then the rest of the blue trucks out there Why is it that
just about every other blue '89-'90 Dak or any Mopar I see has the paint
chipping off? There is a problem with their blue paint, period. I guess I
should have wished that my paint flaked off about 5 years ago? That seems
backwards. The paint is peeling due to their problem, not something I have
done. It would have been nice if they at least humored me and looked at my
truck before making the offer. The way they did it tells me that they were
just throwing me a bone to make me happy and go away. Kind of like they know
what the truck looks like from experience, huh? Kind of like they know
there is a problem?
I am not necessarily bagging on CC, I am a loyal customer and probably
always will be. I just want to be treated as such. Since I have been
alive, I can honestly say that my family has owned about 20 Mopars. I own 5
right now. Heck, if I want to bag on CC, let me talk about the '80 K-car we
owned.
Just look at your paint next time you wash your truck. If you see signs
of cracking or flaking, call the 800#! In the future, you can bet that if
my '96 Ram shows any signs of paint problems, it will be documented right
away.
BTW they could not quote me any "paint warranty". They said it was done on
a per case basis. This is straight from the CC 800#. Now, if it is a per
case basis, the logical thing is to look at my truck first, right?

While I can understand your desire to have CC pick up the full costs, I
would tend to agree with CC on this. I don't think they are looking at the
miles but at the age of the truck. If your's is an '89, it's hit it's 10
year
birthday (Happy 10th to your truck, BTW). Any combination of Silver or
Metallic Flake paints are notorious for fading, cracking, chipping, etc. 10
years is a good life-span for paint on a well used truck (200K miles tells
me
it's well used). You would really have to baby it (constantly waxed,
detailed, always garaged, etc) to expect more out of the paint. I'm not
certain of how you keep the vehicle overnight, or how often it faces harsh
conditions, but I personally would be happy with a 10 year paint job. My
'90
Shadow lasted me 7 years and I was saving up to get it repainted in year 8.
Normal wear and tear would dictate this, and I kept it waxed and detailed.
I
think CC is giving you a good deal as well. I wish I was going to be able
to
get away with $200 for a repaint job. I was staring $1,200 in the face to
redo the Shadow and that was a deal (but then again I was going to have it
repainted by a Jaguar shop in that gorgeous laquer stuff).
I don't really think it's all too fair to bag on CC in that way. They
could've told you just to get lost since it's way out of it's paint warranty
period.
