I pull the coil wire and go to crank it. It seems to take 15 or so seconds to
get oil pressure on my gauge. My old dak (3.9) came up right away. I dont
like to heat up the stater that much. These starters are nippondenso
(expensive) and a bitch to put in (4x4). Essentially it must take 15-20 secs
for a dry oil filter to fill up.
I learned this trick from a veteran mechanic. Says he even does it on his 65
GTO 389 tri power.
I think I'm gonna try filling the oil filter next time. Dont know why I didnt
think of this before....DUH
