Yep, I bought one. In fact, I think I brought up the "shorter=20
threads" thing. The thread size itself was fine (that is, it fit the=20
truck). I feel that the stock drain plug is of much higher quality=20
though. Hey, is it possible to magnatize the stock plug? That would=20
be the best of both worlds...

Anyway, I wasn't real happy with the Summit plug. Its collecting=20
dust in the garage. I only had it in for one oil change interval=20
(3000 miles), but the crappy gasket that came with it had hardened=20
and broke, which allowed some oil to leak! I couldn't find another=20
gasket that I was happy with (granted, I didn't look very long) so I=20
just gave up on it and put the old plug back in. I too have thought=20
about getting that oil filter magnet. Anyone have any experience with=20
'em? Do they work? I guess the only way to tell would be to cut open=20
the filters... Seems to me that a magnet on the filter would have=20
to be pretty strong, since the flow is higher there? Also, I wonder=20
what might happen if it managed to collect some particles and then=20
fell off and they all went through the system in a big chunk? :-) =20
(Color me paranoid.) ;-)
