Drag Racing 1/8 mile

Finally made it to Mooresville Drag strip! I was used to Gateway
International Raceway, where you sign complicated forms, and get arm
bands, and have an inspection, and they call your class (test and tune
for me) and open staging lanes, and close them, and etc. etc.
I pulled in, gave the guy $15, signed a piece of paper, and they said,
pull over there you're ready. Cool with me.
First run was against a Honda w/ a loud (as loud as lawn mowers can be)
exhaust, and the rear window covered in "performance" stickers.
Second run was against a Nova w/ slicks and a huge hood scoop. Third
run was against a loud S-10
RT E.T. MPH
1.221 9.658 72.838
1.108 9.740 72.497 (got a "little" smoke at the start)
.940 9.749 72.341 (broke the second mark for RT's :-)
All in all, not too bad for a first timer. I loved loosing to the Honda
overall, and then getting the suprise gift that I beat him in ET by
.04! HA! The nova straight- up kicked my ass, but I have a nicer
system (i.e. I have a radio) and mine is a daily driver. The S-10 took
me off the line ('cause he had a respectable RT) but then I caught him
and passed him in the span of 1/8 mile, and beat him by 4 tenths. Now I
just have to get a helmet, 'cause they said if I want to come back I
need one, but first time it's OK.
Later,
Robert
