Jodi -

My dad grew up in VA and I am there several times a year to visit family .
He is also a truck driver .

>From what I have heard , there is in fact a radar detector detector .
I think it's called the Stalker or something like that .

You can very well get a ticket in VA for having a radar detector , and if
they pulled you over and saw it , they *will* confiscate the detector .

This is just one more reason that I would NEVER live in VA or any other
Commonwealth state .

You see , VA is a Commonwealth , not actually a state . It is somewhat
similar to a socialist republic .

There are many laws in VA , as well as other Commonwealths , that are
basically retarted and ludicrous .

That's why everyone drives so damn slow in VA (except for you) . They're
all scared to damn death of the police .

My dad told me that many years ago , and who knows , maybe today , that all
a State Patrol officer in VA had to do to arrest you for DUI was walk into
a bar , point out and identify whomever he wanted , and haul them in .
There was no breathalyzer , no blood test , and no defense .
He also told me of one case in which he was a child and he and his friends
were putting gravel on the railroad tracks (this is extreme southwest VA in
Wise county where trains and coal mining are plentiful) . This has been
something that people have always done and will always do , no real harm in
it either .

Well , he tells me that this State officer drives by and ses what they are
doing .

The guy hauls them all in to the local station .

He ended up actually trying to push a case for battery against the cop (it
seems that one of the rocks snapped off the tracks in his car's general
direction , never hitting him or the car) and he was just generally an
asshole .

I know that no-one has any way to verify these stories , but I have been to
VA many times and have seen how the government works up there .

IT SUCKS !
