Starter Problems

Recently I have had starter problems. At first the starter would click
, pause and click again then start. Now I just get a single click and the
truck does not start. I first suspected the battery as it had a weak cell,
so I took it back to Sears and they replaced it with a new battery. That
was not the cause of the problem. Its been over 15 years since I have worked on
my own vehicle and most of my tools are long gone. I checked with the
local dealer and after hearing a quote on the price I may have to pay I
decided to try my hand at auto repair again. My truck is a 1991 V6 Dakota
with about 86 thousand miles on it. The problem is I don't know if it is
the starter or the wiring and I don't have the meters to check. And since
is has been 15 years since I have gotten into an engine I need
some one to hold my hand.

Any help woud be greatly appreciated :-)))
