GS,
We havnt tried it yet. Neither Frank or I run an Open element style air
cleaner so the thought wasnt headed in that direction. My initial thought
was to fill in the breaks in the top flange for the bolt heads and create
more of a "stack" for the venturi. But with an open air cleaner, I can see
where the removal and smoothing of the top would be a benefit. This may be
a good thing to do for the stage one style using the stock butterflys. With
the 52mm TB though Im already getting excess air (not a flow problem) If I
can richen up at the right times then more flow may be an issue. This is
good data since the first stage one TB only had the stock shaft cut down.
The next stage ones will have the Holloway stainless NO mystery shaft in it
which should increase the flow a little more. That then would be a good
thing! We may try the smoothing, but right now we got too much air already!

Subject: DML: TB Mod Question for the Pro's
I've noticed that Franks TBI's still have the stock
aluminum (fence) around the ports. I'm curious about
the difference in flow of this design compared to other
TBI's that have been milled flat w/ rounded edges.
One reason I'm asking is after I had mine opened up
long ago by a machine shop, I decided last month to
follow KuK's example and remove the stock fence around
the port. There was a difference! It bogged on the
first WOT, then pulled on the next. Seems to have
increased in torque and response.
I hesitated on this modification thinking it wasn't
that necessary, but now I'm glad I did it. So I'm
curious to learn if there is any known difference
between the two on the flowbench.
Frank?
Bruce?
Uh.....Jules?? (the report said,"They found him with
a Super Street TBI in his hand.")
