Well , I for one having been nearly involved in a very nasty incident with
a 3000 GT , will not EVER do any racing again in any kind of traffic .
I wrote all about it back in June or July when it happened , so you can
check the archives .
I do however think that there are certain areas of the country where 100
MPH+ speeds are suitable and at least in Montana , are welcomed .
I think that the way Montana has approached this is appropriate . Study
after study has shown that whether you have speed limits or not , that the
public is going to drive at whatever speed they are comfortable with as a
whole (I mean generally,sure there are assholes that will screw it all up
every once in a while) . So what speed limits are really for is revenue .
States like Virginia make me sick . They would rather have people starving
, drug dealers dealing , murderers murdering , rapists raping , etc , than
to let someone get away without paying a speeding fine , or God forbid ,
have a way to detect a microwave signal that is floating in the air .
I wish I could mount a small , portable microwave antenna under the hood of
the truck and drive around and fry a bunch of radar guns .
I know that a few years back that VA was still using Vascar , which , if
I'm not mistaken , was one unit in the rear of the car , one in the front
that would time how long it would take for you to go between the two and
determine your speed . I would guess that this was utilized with some kind
of beam of light (not a laser) and woulkd therefor be undetectable .
Anyone know anything about Vascar ?
