Bruce,
Your completely correct. I did not realize your DAK was new. That's what
happens when you pick something up in the middle and miss half the facts.
Yea, my original exhaust system from Dodge was a piece of garbage. It
likewise rusted almost immediately. After just over a year, it had holes it
it. It really upset me as well, even though I had already planned on
replacing it.

Rich,
If my truck wasnt brand new with only 5 months of driving and 6000miles Id
jump on a stainless tip (gee, wasnt my tip supposed to be stainless??), but
at this point Id rather have the dealer replace my tail pipe every time it
rusts out for the next 100K miles (extendo warranty) to make a point. Looks
great when its new...

Here's one option you may want to consider. You mention your pipe is 3"
dia. Go to Gibson or another manufacturer that use a 3" pipe and purchase
one of their SS tips. They come in different styles to suit your taste
(straight, cut, ovals).
I personally have a Gibson with a polished SS tip that has been in place now
for over two years. It looks as good now as the day I installed it. FYI -
the exhaust system itself is aluminized steel, not the SS one. It still is
not showing any rust/oxidation of any sort. I am extremely pleased with it.

Yep. I've got a ton of chrome on my motorcycle and I've tried
*everything*... You can polish it, buff it, burn it, bang it, jump up and
down and yell at it and it may look good for awhile but all the time it's
saying those immortal words, "I'll be back." Nothing short of replacement
works once it starts.

Try Mother's first. If anything will shine it up, Mother's will.
