Better Night at the Track

After my open headers fiasco last week, I welded up the 3" test pipe (no more
cat), installed a set of Lakewood traction bars and went back at it. Big
improvements over last week, and decent gains over my previous best.

Run #1 #2 #3 #4 Previous Best(not
all the same run)
R/T .949 .691 .525 .708 .510
60' 2.277 2.194 2.231 2.173 2.259
ET 15.26 15.235 15.21 15.136 15.297
MPH 90.74 90.648 90.779 91.079 91.000(open headers)

* all at 3700 ft

While none of these gains are striking, the improvments in the consistency of
my times is fantastic. I had been all over place, with ET's varying by .5 or
more, and 60' times varying by .3. The teeth rattling wheelhop I used to get
shifting into 2nd is gone. The tires still spin like a top through 1st and
2nd gear, but no hop. I'm not ready to say that the Lakewood's are the best
thing since sliced bread. Maybe the track was better tonight, but then again
the Mustwang boys were having trouble, and I saw few street cars with 60'
times better than 2.3.

El Paso Dragway stays open into late November, so I'm hoping to get in a few
more nights. I'm even ready to try that Typhoon again.
