a) At low speeds, while turning or hitting small bumps I get a rattle or
clunking noise that seems to be coming from the two piece shaft that connects
the wheel to the steering gear. You can hear it (radio off) and feel a slight
vibration in the wheel. I don't think it is unsafe, just annoying.
I called my dealer this morning and he is ordering a part to replace the two
piece shaft with a one piece shaft --or something like that... I'll know more
when I take it in. He said the TSB applied to all '97 & '98 4x4 Dakota's (and
some Durango's) that have the recirculating ball steering gear.
b) Surf to http://www.nhtsa.dot.gov/cars/problems it will give you info. on
recalls and TSB's.

P.S. There is a recall out on some 12,000+ '98 Daks for bolts that are used to
attach the cab to the frame that were not properly hardened... They say that
notification began in late Sept. to owners with affected vehicles.
